Welcome to our website. Business Resource Center specializes in selling businesses and started in 1981 as VR Business Brokers in Ogden. The company expanded in 1983 to include offices in Salt Lake City and Murray. An additional office was opened in St. George in 1990. The name changed to Business Resource Center in January 1996. After 24 years, the founder of Business Resource Center has sold his Ogden and St. George Real Estate offices to Agent and Associate Broker, Russ Starker, who has been with the company since 1995. The company now operates under the name “Business Resource Center OAB”, a division of Own A Business, Inc.

Since its founding, Business Resource Center has assisted in the sale of hundreds of businesses. All of Business Resource Center’s associates are licensed by the State of Utah, Division of Real Estate. Associates also receive in-house training with a comprehensive modular training system referred to as “System One”. The training includes determining the proper value of a business in today’s market, and using several sources to help with that determination. Associates also learn to determine the needs, wants and expectations of each person wanting to buy a business. This is accomplished with a Confidential Customer Profile that evaluates the potential buyers skills, interests, financial needs and capabilities. This information can then be used to choose the type of business that best suits the prospective buyer.

Under the direction of new owner, Russ Starker, Business Resource Center will continue to strive for successful business sales that are win-win situations for both buyer and seller. Business sales differ from real estate transactions in that the buyer and seller work closely on the transfer of ownership and need to develop a level of trust that is comfortable for both. Buying or selling a business can be highly stressful. Russ and his associates help relieve the stress by educating the buyers and sellers on the step by step process of buying and selling the business.
